Entertainment Industry Veteran Gives Students Inside Look at Working in Hollywood
On Monday, March 25, the Interactive Media and Film Department partnered with the Belk Professional Development Center to host a four-hour clinic focused on helping students launch their entertainment careers. The program, Leveraging Up! is the brain child of Stacy Milner, a 17-year veteran of the entertainment industry and Hollywood Insider. She shares the knowledge she’s gained by working alongside network and studio chairmen and is able to provide an inside look of the culture and environment of the industry that is essential for leveraging a career in this highly competitive job market.
“The Leveraging Up! Workshop was very informative and gave the student body a real look into the entertainment industry,” said Steve Woods, a senior sports management major. “The workshop taught me that you have to do the small things to get your name out there and your face in the door. The workshop also gave me inspiration that no matter where you come from, if you follow the correct steps and do the thing in the correct way, you can be very successful.”
Around 100 students participated in this event. Saint Augustine’s University is the first HBCU to offer its students the full Leveraging Up! Program.
