Falcons Lose To Livingstone 63-59 In Final Minutes
Saint Augustine’s University lost 63-59 to Livingstone College at Trent Gym on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, in a CIAA men’s basketball contest that went down to the wire.
The score was tied 59-59 with 2:25 left but the Blue Bears scored the final four points for the victory. The loss was the fourth in a row for the Falcons, who fell to 15-10 overall and 5-4 in the Southern Division. The Blue Bears improved to 19-5 overall and remained tied for first in the division at 7-2.
Despite the loss, St. Aug Head Coach Lonnie Blow saw some positives. The Falcons held the Blue Bears to zero three-point baskets in the second half after they were 6 for 11 in the first half.
“We played better defense in the second half,” said Blow, whose Falcons lead the CIAA and are ranked high nationally in field-goal percentage defense. “We gave ourselves a chance to win, but didn’t finish it off.”
