SAU Sport Management Students Volunteer at CIAA Cross Country Championships
For the second year in a row, Saint Augustine’s University sport management students volunteered at the CIAA Cross-Country Championships held in Cary, NC. The students gained hands-on experience in the operational aspect of a major event. Students were given responsibilities ranging from hospitality and awards to community engagement and dedicated stops along the course.
“I looked forward to volunteering at the Cross-Country Championships,” said junior sport management major Edward Carroll, a native of Gary, Ind. “I had an opportunity to work with the event last year and was eager to do it again this year.”
Students from the Sport Management department became an integral part of the championship day operations committee. Students learned and gained an understanding of the organizational structure of event planning as well as the opportunity to collaborate with conference staff and administrators.
