St. Aug to Host "The Tanzania Project" Exhibit

Saint Augustine’s University will host “The Tanzania Project,” a photography exhibition by local artist and world traveler, Georges Le Chevallier, Feb. 4-28 in the Seby Jones Art Gallery. The project will showcase a series of 45 photographs by Le Chevallier. This exhibition features multiple themes such as people, nature, places and architectural photography.

An artist reception is scheduled for 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, in the Seby Jones Art Gallery.

In July 2011, Le Chevallier was named as one of only four recipients nationwide of a Travelocity Travel for Good Grant to journey to Tanzania. He traveled with the international not-for-profit organization Cross Cultural Solutions to a small village in the Kilimanjaro region and to the city of Bagamoyo on the Indian Ocean coast. Throughout his trip, Le Chevallier documented his Tanzania journey with the photographs featured in this exhibition.

The Tanzania Project was produced by Bloc Projects and made possible thanks to a Travelocity Travel for Good Grant and the support of Cross Cultural Solutions, The Living Arts College and Saint Augustine’s University.
